For some, Port Eliot can be a retreat of tranquility and magic for others it can become a fantastical pleasure ground of music, drums and laughter.

An extraordinary marriage begins in an extraordinary location. Port Eliot hosts bespoke wedding celebrations, each as individual as the couple at the heart of them. As a private house with extensive grounds, a superb contacts book and an open mind, it provides an unforgettable setting for all styles of celebration.

Where better place to celebrate your wedding day, than in the stunning woodland gardens and park of an ancient stately home and mediaeval monastery in south east Cornwall (the oldest continually inhabited dwelling in the UK).

Weddings at Port Eliot are magical and unforgettable occasions. Due to the nature of the site, they tend to have a vibrant, festival feel – a ceremony in the stunning Georgian Orangery, with its romantic chandeliers entwined with flowers, followed by a reception under a marquee somewhere in Grade I listed grounds.

Whether you take the House for a day or the grounds for a weekend retreat, you and your guests will be welcomed to Port Eliot and made to feel at home.

Port Eliot House is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and partnerships but for those seeking something a little more traditional, the Norman church of St Germans Priory, adjacent to the estate, can bring a touch of 13th- century grandeur to the ceremony.

Other locations licensed for civil ceremonies include; the impressive Drawing Room, with its magnificent views of the Repton Park, the imposing Dining Room with its roaring fire, and the Conservatory and Library provide intimate spaces for the smaller wedding party.

After your ceremony, you may like to wow your guests with a Champagne reception in the famous Round Room. Designed by Sir John Soane, it is considered one of his outstanding achievements with a mural painted by Robert Lenckiewicz regarded as his masterpiece. It has to be seen to be believed.

One of the most beautiful places in Cornwall, Port Eliot offers something for everyone; young-hearted love to run free on the lawns, others prefer the calm and dappled shade of the woodland garden. Guests can wander amidst the rhododendrons and camellias; get lost in the maze, or marvel at the landscaping designed by Sir Humphrey Repton in the Grade I Listed garden as they meander along the estuary towards the viaduct.

With only a handful of weddings being held on the estate each year, we aim to ensure you have a highly individual and exclusive wedding. We revel in unusual ideas and every wedding is unique.

At Port Eliot, one of the most important days of your life can be truly magical. You will have the support of our wedding co-ordinator before and on the day of your wedding, who will happily recommend a number of fantastic wedding services suppliers from her chic black book!
