We’ve extended the closing date.
Because lockdown has put paid to any form of non-essential travel since the new year, we have been left with no option than to extend the closing date of our competition still further. We want everybody who would like to, to be able to enter for a chance to win our fabulous prize:
Visit Tamar Valley has teamed up with the stunning Lewtrenchard Manor Hotel in the heart of the Tamar Valley to bring you a fabulous Prize of a fabulous Chef’s Table experience for two at the Purple Carrot.
The Lewtrenchard Manor is a spectacular Hotel with a rich and varied history. Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086AD as a royal manor owned by the Sheriff of Devon, the property passed into the possession of the Trenchard family during the reign of Henry III. Silver coins from this time have been found in the walls and below the floors of the house.
The Monks of Potheridge later owned the property but during the reign of James I, but when Sir Thomas Monk fell into financial difficulties and was put into a debtors’ prison in Exeter, he sold the estate to Henry Gould in 1626.
In the 19th Century, the Reverend Sabine Baring Gould, an author and poet who famously wrote the hymn Onward Christian Soldiers, inherited the property. It was he who transformed the house to the wonderful manor it is today. In 1949, the Paynter family opened it as a fabulous hotel that continues to impress and inspire its guests.
Private Dining with a Bird’s Eye View
As the lucky winner of our prize, you and your chosen guest will be treated to a dining experience that is without equal in the South West. You will be served food that is meticulously prepared and beautifully presented by our team of chefs, headed by Tom Browning.
The Chef’s Table experience is quite unique for the South West; the “Purple Carrot” offers private dining with a bird’s eye view of the state of the art kitchen in action, captured on cameras and viewed on a large flat screen TV with special viewing areas where you can watch and interact with Head Chef Tom and his team.
Your evening will start with a glass of Champagne and canapés followed by a seven course menu with the option of a flight of wines to match the courses.
Whilst this prize is for two people, why not make it a celebration for up to 6 people by booking separately for family or friends?
