Event Details
An intergenerational nature-based arts project by The Photobook Project, connecting older and younger people to each other and the Tamar Valley. This exhibition features the participants’ photographs, taken throughout the project, and an accompanying collection of photobooks.
Wild About Calstock engaged school children at Calstock and Stoke Climsland Primary Schools and Sensory Trust’s dementia-friendly Walk & Laugh Group. Across three guided nature walks, participants have observed, documented and shared knowledge whilst also taking part in workshops with local experts (such as foraging with Incredible Edible). With a focus on the winter wetlands, wildlife and woodlands, Wild About Calstock connected people across the generations and nurtured a deeper appreciation for their local environment and wildlife. The project also aimed to raise awareness of the Parish Council’s Climate Change Action Plan and the environmental challenges and opportunities that they are currently seeking to address.

Event Details
Cornwall-based chamber choir, Levowan XII was established in 2015 by Director, Marcus Alleyne. Originally eight voices put together to perform a live carol concert for local radio, they are now 12, all of whom have a strong musical background and bring a broad range of experience and versatility.
The choir performs three main concerts per year and also collaborates with other music ensembles at a variety of events in Devon and Cornwall. Delivering a vast repertoire covering almost any genre, including major works, they perform both a cappella and accompanied by piano, organ or chamber orchestra.
Their Spring Concert 2024 will feature Fauré’s Requiem and will also include a selection of individual pieces from the classical and musical theatre repertoire, based on a theme of contemplation and reflection by, amongst others, Allegri, Elgar, Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, and Kate Rusby.
Mark Smith
Accompanist- studied piano and organ at Trinity College of Music, London, and worked as a professional accompanist in the South East before moving to Cornwall 12 years ago. He now shares his work time between gardening and accompanying. In any free time, Mark enjoys growing organic veg, walking, foraging and yet more music making!

Rosie is a great leader and runs the Calstock Rubber Band – and is even a Cornish bard!
With Callington hosting the Gorsedh this September Rosie’s workshops will concentrate on playing local Cornish tunes associated with local places and events, including the new tune that Cotehele is using for their new Celebrate the Blossom festival. We’ll also revisit some old favourites. All instrumentalists are welcome, and let’s have some fun playing together.

Join us at the Old Chapel, for a couple of hours, to celebrate the launch of Dorothy Coventon’s new book of collected poems of love and loss: Unpinned From Time.
Written as a searing response to a double tragedy in her life, the poems have won prizes and received much acclaim. They speak with a breathtaking directness to poet and non-poet alike.
Dorothy lives and writes in Cornwall, has worked as a midwife and lecturer and is now retired. She loves Rumi.
Dorothy will read from her book during the afternoon, and copies will be available for sale on the day. Traditional Irish music by Turlough O’Carolan will be played by George Black and Jane Weatherby.
Entry to the event is free but please get an allocated ticket in advance so we know what numbers to expect.
The Gallery bar will also be open for the sale of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

The Jake Leg Jug Band bring you the authentic sounds of 1920’s and 30’s America – Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Ragtime – and put their own twist on it. Songs of murder, betrayal, gambling, liquor and redemption.
After self releasing their debut album, the band signed to one of the UK’s top independent Jazz labels, recording 3 albums as part of the ‘Vintage Recording Project’ – essentially recording live around ribbon microphones, as it would have been back in the 1930’s. A further three albums were released in the last four years on the Green Bullet record label including their first ever live album.
2022 marked the 10th anniversary of the band and saw them play 100 gigs, taking in dates from Scotland to Cornwall and South Wales to Suffolk. 2023 is the bands busiest ever year and they bring their latest live show to promote their latest album Hello Central.

Three Devon authors, who are all members of the same writing group, will be sharing their experience of the rocky road to publication, in an attempt to help other writers get published.
Calstock Arts are thrilled to welcome, Yaara Lahav Gregory, Anna Lunk, and Sophie Pierce, in conversation at the Old Chapel with their One Writers’ Group: Three Routes to Publication.
Anna Lunk, a one time resident of Calstock and member of Girl’s Own Theatre lives in Staverton, while Sophie Pierce and Yaara Lahav Gregory live in Ashburton. They are all members of Ashburton Writers’ Group.

About Peri-meno..what now?
Nina was going through life quite nicely, when POW! Suddenly! she wasn’t! Fear and Anxiety crept into normal everyday situations. Unexplainable rage at everything and everyone! Depression and weird sexual urges!! So imagine her surprise when she was told that this was the Peri-menopause!! The Peri-meno…what now?? Little did she realise that this was ‘normal’ and part of the joys of growing old!! Expect Comedy, song, rap and even a bit of contemporary dance. A must see for anyone with a lady garden and
all garden visitors.
About Peri-meno…what
now? 2.0
Whilst travelling around with the original show we discovered that a lot of women had a lot to say about their own experiences with the perimenopause. We found lots of material to add to the show and we found that men don’t want to come to see a show about women’s fanny’s. So Peri 2.0 has elements of the original show with extra bits for us and the men in our lives – so bring them along.

“Martin Simpson has transcended borders and oceans to quietly become a superb storyteller and musician of great depth and unquestionable taste.” Stephen Fearing
The remarkable intimate solo performances Martin gives go from strength to strength – every gig is a masterclass. He travels the length and breadth of the UK and beyond, giving rapt audiences passion, sorrow, love, beauty, tragedy and majesty through his playing.
“What’s it like being the best guitar player in the world…?” Martin’s modesty and grace prevented him from answering this BBC Radio 4 interviewer’s question recently, but the facts speak for themselves.
40 years after he recorded his first album, Golden Vanity, in 1976, Martin is known as a guitarist of formidable talent. Equally at home playing English traditional folk, American folk and blues and his own compositions, he is consistently named as one of the very finest fingerstyle guitar players in the world.

Event Details
Six Inches of Soil is a British independent full feature documentary shining a spotlight on soil health and regenerative farming. It tells the inspiring story of young British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food – to heal the soil, our health and provide for local communities. The aims of the film are to sound the alarm on a broken system, but to also give hope that there is a way to fix it; to inspire farmers to adopt agroecological and regenerative farming practices; and to encourage consumers, food corporations and policymakers to support their efforts.
Marina O’Connell will be leading in the question and answer session after the film and will also talk about her farm, regenerative farming and working to increase the number of farms adopting more soil friendly farming practices.

Karen, 17, on her parents: loving and lovable; secret devotees of University Challenge. Oh, and they’re cops.
Karen’s parents, on Karen: fearless cycling champion; a sweet-natured young lady.
Karen’s parents are worried. She won’t come out of her bedroom. Which is odd, given she’s such a go-getter. Odder still is what she’s doing in there…
A poignant rites-of-passage story from acclaimed writer Jon Welch.
Reviews of ‘Bike’ at the Edinburgh Fringe: “Beautifully realised by a terrific cast, it’s a piece of perfection from writer, Jon Welch.”
“A stunning piece. Draws the audience in with a light but sure touch, then turns on a sixpence to move through the darkest of territory before an astonishing and beautiful coup de theatre.”
This performance is subsidised by Carn to Cove, Cornwall’s Performing Arts scheme for rural communities.

Re-live the magic of the 2003 Pixar film, with Finding Nemo Jr. live on stage brought to you by the incredible talents of Sterts Youth Theatre Company
Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure that is top entertainment for ALL ages!
This production is 60 minutes long with no interval. Liskeard School seating is on a flat floor so bringing cushions/booster is recommended for smaller audience members.

From the quote attributed to Mark Twain, humour is defined as Tragedy Plus Time. Come and join Ed as he tests that formula by mining the most tragic event in his life for laughs.
Edinburgh Fringe 2023 was a bumper 5-star review year for Ed. They came in thick and fast alongside outstanding critical acclaim for this exceptionally funny, ‘Best Reviewed Stand Up Show at Edinburgh 2023’ (British Comedy Guide).
As seen as Hosting Live At The Apollo and regular appearances on QI and Mock The Week (BBC).
