Event Details
A heat pump is just an extremely efficient boiler – connected to something.
The Stoke Climsland Carbon Zero Homes Project discovered that there are local households who are interested in finding out more about having an efficient heating system, with or without a heat pump.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide up-to-date impartial information on this topic and to have an opportunity for some discussion.
For a typical household, around 80% of energy use will be for space heating and hot water. So having an efficient heating system can have a profoundly positive impact on reducing household energy consumption. As consumers, we pay for the energy we use, not the heat provided by our heating systems.
-The ‘science bit’ – how heat pumps work and why they are so efficient
-Facts will be presented, and common myths will be busted
-Review of a local air source heat pump installation 18 month’s on – how did it go?
How to avoid a sub-standard installation tips on how to improve the efficiency of any heating system
This meeting is arranged by local volunteers in collaboration with Tamar Energy Community and Dartmoor Energy and is funded by the Parish Council. Light refreshments provided and the bar will be open.

The Mighty Howlers: Roaring rhythm & blues
Their tough, high energy, performances have proved to be very popular with both the dance crowd and the blues purists. Those members of the audience who would not have considered themselves devotees of Blues Music at the start of the evening, tend to be wholly converted by the time The Mighty Howlers have completed their roaring sets!
With over 150 combined years of gigging experience behind them, Morgen, Colin, Terry and Justin have played with many bands over the years, spanning a wide variety of music genres from Rockabilly, Rock Classic and Rock Blues. They have a history of playing together from way back in the 1990’s with many influences on their music. The majority of The Mighty Howlers songs have been written by Morgen over a period of many years. The experience of the other musicians has allowed a rich and punchy sound to be developed, resulting in the music heard by their large audiences today.
Previous hook-ups include Morgen and Justin in Me and The Devil as well as The Mo’ Slim Stompers. Colin and Morgen in Black Cat Bone. Terry and Colin in Overdrawn, plus many more. Other bands they have been a part of include…. Transam, The Flat Caps
Their main influences today are Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, 50’s Rhythm & Blues, Dr Feelgood, to name but a few.
