The Nurturing Day

A Dartmoor Yoga Experience

Sunday 25th October 2026

As the seasons turn and the air grows crisp across the moors, we would be delighted to welcome you to the Two Bridges Hotel for a very special autumn gathering.

On Sunday 25th October, as the clocks go back, we are partnering with SymiYoga to bring you “The Gifted Hour: The Nurturing Day.” This welcoming one-day retreat is an invitation to use that extra hour gently: to pause, breathe, and return to yourself before winter settles in.

Guided by our expert yoga mechanic Symi, the morning begins with a stabilising and energising Forrest Yoga session, designed to help you feel supported, grounded, and at ease in your body. Afterwards, we’ll wrap up warm for a mindful, 3.5-mile guided walk to the moss-draped ancient oaks of Wistman’s Wood, with walking meditation and Dartmoor storytelling along the way.

On our return, you’ll be welcomed in for a locally-sourced light lunch. The afternoon then softens into restorative Yin and Yoga Nidra to the sounds of Emma Carter’s beautiful Dartmoor soundscapes, ending with a long, deeply restful Savasana.

As twilight falls over the moors, we’ll gather by the fire in the lounge for a classic Devon cream tea.

Make a weekend of it! If you’d rather let the calm linger a little longer, book a room with us for Saturday or Sunday night – or both – and awake rested to the quiet beauty of Dartmoor. Rooms from £195 per night based on two people sharing, or single occupancy from £165 to include a superb Dartmoor Breakfast.

Your Day

08:30 – 09:15 | Arrival & Grounding

A warm welcome to your day, with fireside herbal teas, fresh juices and relaxed introductions.

09:15 – 10:45 | Awakening, energising and deeply nourishing Forrest Yoga

A dynamic, 90-minute morning session either outdoors or in our Fountain Room, focusing on transition, grounding, and shedding seasonal weight.

11:00 – 13:00 | Mindful Guided Walk

A 3.5-mile guided trek winding to the iconic, moss-covered ancient oaks of nearby Wistman’s Wood. The walk incorporates silent, walking meditation segments, storytelling, myths and legends.

13:15 – 14:30 | Nourishing Lunch

A seasonal, award-winning lunch, featuring some of the best Dartmoor-sourced ingredients.

14:45 – 16:00 | Restorative Yin & Yoga Nidra

A slow, deeply relaxing afternoon yoga session utilising bolsters and deep stretches, ending with a prolonged healing Savasana.

16:15 – 17:00 | Cream Tea & Closing Circle

Gathering for a classic Devon Cream Tea (warm scones, clotted cream, and local jam) to reflect, connect, and officially close the retreat as twilight begins to fall over the moors.

THEATRE @ THE OLD SCHOOL WELCOMES…..

“SECRETS OF A HIDDEN REALM” – SQUASHBOX THEATRE

supported by Carn to Cove
Doors open at 6.30pm for 7pm start. We have a fully licensed bar.

What if there was a parallel dimension where the giants, faeries, piskies and other magical creatures from Cornish stories really existed?

For centuries, a mysterious covert organisation has been investigating this ‘Hidden Realm’ from its top secret base above Poundland in Camborne, and rumour has it they are trying to create a portal between the worlds…

But the time for secrecy is over. Tonight we will open the archives, release the secret files, and learn the truth about the Hidden Realm – whatever the consequences!

‘Secrets of the Hidden Realm’ delves into the strange, dark and beguiling world of Cornish folklore, using a blend of storytelling, comedy and ingenious puppetry. It combines a deep reverence for the history and mythology of Cornwall with absurd humour and a dash of Cosmic Horror. (Imagine if ‘The X Files’ was set in Redruth, or Cthulhu appeared in Marazion…)

‘Secrets of the Hidden Realm’ is written and performed by Craig Johnson, Penzance-based actor, musician and puppeteer. Under the name Squashbox Theatre he has been creating marvellous, quirky and inventive family shows for over 18 years.

This is Squashbox Theatre’s first show for adults & older children! (recommended age 12 )

Tickets:

Standard Adult – £12

Under 18’s – £8

Family – £35 (2 Adults & 2 Children)

Supporter tickets £15 (this includes a donation to Carn to Cove to bring more subsidised future shows to Cornwall)

Suitable for ages 12
