Tamar Lakes

This idyllic location on the Devon and Cornwall border is perfect for exploring on bike or foot. Surrounded by British countryside, Tamar Lakes are popular with walkers, runners, cyclists, families, bird watchers and anglers all searching for their own piece of tranquility.

The three-mile circular path around the upper lake is suitable for bikes, pushchairs and wheelchairs and dogs on leads are welcome. Don’t forget the camera – the countryside is humming with wildlife. See what you can spot from one of the bird hides!

Experience a different view of the lake and hire watersports equipment or launch your own from the Activity Centre (check website for opening hours). Choose between kayaking, rowing, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing and the famous swan pedalo. Upper Tamar Lake is also renowned for its carp and matching fishing.
