Weddings, ceremonies and private functions at the Old Chapel
The Old Chapel at Calstock Arts is a fully licenced wedding venue. It’s also perfect for baby-naming ceremonies, civil partnerships, renewal of vows, private parties or a fond farewell to a loved one. Our venue has two main spaces: The Main Auditorium and the Kelly Room, both are suitable for hire and can accommodate up to 116 people.
The building provides a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony as well as offering reception and party space. If you are looking for a wedding venue in Cornwall, it makes an ideal location.
A converted Methodist Chapel, it has the original stained glass windows, a dramatic vaulted ceiling, a gallery and a stunning, massive plate glass window with stunning views across the River Tamar to Devon, the Calstock Viaduct, fields, woodlands and Cotehele House beyond. It’s a beautiful, elegant and intimate venue for weddings and other ceremonies that you can make your own. With fantastic acoustics and amazing light that floods into the main auditorium, it’s a perfect venue within which to share your special day or ceremony with friends and family.

What events can The Old Chapel rooms be hired for?
The Old Chapel can be hired for private events and parties, as well as ceremonies including weddings, civil partnerships, baby-naming, and funerals.
It can also be hired for corporate or business related events such as meetings, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, presentations, training days, team building, private parties, away days, corporate events and school visits.
How many rooms for hire does the Old Chapel have?
There are two rooms available for hire at the Old Chapel:
The Main Auditorium
This room seats up to 116 people. It’s a large, flexible, versatile and carpeted space with great acoustics and light. It has a kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of tables and seating you can use to fit your requirements. It can seat 100 in rows with additional seating in the gallery/bar or, when arranged in working groups around tables, it will accommodate groups from 15 up to 70 people.
The Main Auditorium also has a fully stocked bar on the first floor gallery, overlooking the auditorium (ideal for breakout sessions alongside a main conference or meeting). It’s a perfect space for family gatherings and ceremonies, workshops and classes, as well as corporate hire – for meetings, conferences, away days and training sessions.
The Kelly Room
This room seats up to 50 people and is perfect for smaller, more intimate events, meetings and ceremonies. Hire of the Kelly Room includes full use of the adjoining, fully-equipped kitchen.

Do you provide caterers or can I supply my own?
Unfortunately we do not offer on-site catering, however, you are very welcome to supply your own caterers.

Is there a bar?
The bar at the Old Chapel is fully licensed and staffed. If planning any drinks at your hiring please contact our Bar Manager to discuss your requirements by email: [email protected].
Can I get married at the Old Chapel?
The Old Chapel is an approved venue licensed for weddings, civil partnerships, renewal of vows and civil naming ceremonies. Subject to availability, weddings can be booked Mondays – Saturdays, between the hours of 9am and 5pm. To confirm availability you will need to check with our Venue Manager [email protected].
Please note that the hire charge does not include the registrars’ payment, which must be arranged directly with them. We advise you to discuss and agree the date and time of the ceremony in advance with the Registration Officer at the local Registration Office 0300 1234 181 or [email protected] and ensure that the appropriate legal civil preliminaries have been completed (a minimum of 4 weeks should be allowed for this).

Hire of the Old Chapel for a wedding includes the assistance of two arts centre staff. They will be on hand an hour before the ceremony to assist the Registrar, greet guests on arrival, help with seating and assist the ushers. They are present throughout the ceremony to ensure everything runs smoothly.
