A warm welcome to this 15th-century Royal Inn that lies on the Tamar Coast to Coast Way in the beautiful Tamar Valley, just over the border from Cornwall.

The Royal Inn, which was once a nunnery, stands near the ancient Horsebridge, built over the River Tamar in 1437 by French Benedictine monks. The monks stayed on the site where the pub now stands and a nunnery was erected some 50 years later. Today, the pub offers convivial surroundings with beamed ceilings and open log fires, ample parking, sheltered outdoor seating areas, and a beer garden.

The restaurant is open for lunches and evening meals, offering traditional home-cooked cuisine prepared using locally sourced produce.  A lighter lunch menu is available alongside the regular menu from Tuesday through Sunday, and a Traditional Roast Lunch is on offer on Sundays.

The regular menu is complemented by daily specials that include fresh fish and shellfish from Plymouth, and locally shot venison and pheasant. A selection of real ales, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks is served.
